Dr. Timothy Treece is a co-founder of CAPS and, with over 30 years of experience, feels he is just hitting his stride. He has enjoyed a lifelong passion for the sciences, is a visual arts practitioner, and finds joy in making people happy. Dr. Treece stays on the leading edge of surgical techniques and combines technical expertise with a creative and aesthetic vision.
Dr. Treece believes the best results are elegant and understated. Rather than drawing attention to work done, he thinks the best outcome is when patients can surprise others with how good they look.
Awards & Recognition Timothy Treece
As a proud native of the Columbus area, Dr. Treece attended The Ohio State University. He studied art history and visual art as part of his pre-medical curriculum. After completing an undergraduate honors program in arts and sciences, he continued to The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Treece left Ohio for a five-year residency program at The University of Texas in Houston, where he held the honor of being named Chief Surgical Resident.
Dr. Treece was a Trauma and General Surgeon for the United States Airforce. He supported the fighter squadron and rose to become Head of Surgery at his base during his service. After his time with the Airforce, he returned to Ohio to be close to his family and support his local community. He completed a highly competitive integrated plastic surgery residency program at The Ohio State University and went into practice.
Dr. Treece is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and holds positions on their Wellness Committee and Practice Committee. He was the department chair for Riverside Methodist Hospital for over a decade and is a revered faculty and clinical instructor for The Ohio State University Plastic Surgeon Residency Program.
Throughout his career, Dr. Treece has been active in the education of plastic surgeons. He believes in paying it forward, teaching residents to be outstanding doctors, and continually improving the quality of talent entering the profession. He does this by teaching and guiding their academic careers, actively reviewing cases and upgrades, and improving technical processes at the highest level.
An artist who still works in pencil and watercolors, Dr. Treece, sat on the Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD) for six years.
Dr. Treece is married to Jill Treece, an esteemed educator at The Ohio State University School of Business. A proud father of six and a grandfather, he enjoys spending time with his family. Dr. Treece thrives on the art and challenge of fly-fishing, which he does at some of the country’s most beautiful locations. Dr. Treece is also an enthusiastic golfer, and in the right season, you’ll find him racing sailboats.
Dr. Treece has provided care to children in Peru who need facial cleft lip and palate repair.
He has performed reconstructive burn surgeries for children in need, is active in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and rides annually for Pelotonia to raise funds for cancer research.
