Fat Injections Volume where you want it
What is a fat injection?
A fat injection is a cosmetic procedure in which fat is taken from one area of your body and injected into another area of your body that is lacking in volume. You may receive fat injections anywhere in your body. The most common areas, however, are the face, hands, breasts, and buttocks.
Is a fat injection right for me?
The best way to determine the answer to this question is to meet with one of our Plastic Surgeons for a consultation. Your doctor will take the time to understand your unique aesthetic goals and to determine if a fat injection is right for you.
What should I expect during my consultation?
During your consultation, your doctor will help you to determine if a fat injection is right for you. If you both agree that a fat injection is the best procedure for you, your doctor will use the consultation to work with you to determine what part of your body the fat for the injection should be taken from and exactly where it should be injected. You should expect your doctor to ask you several questions, including:
Why do you want a fat injection?
Where do you want the fat to be injected?
Where do you want the fat to be taken from?
What are your expectations for the procedure?
What is your desired outcome?
Do you have any drug allergies?
What previous medical treatments have you received?
Have you had any previous surgeries? If so, what were they?
In addition to asking these questions, your Plastic Surgeon will use your consultation to evaluate your general health status and any pre-existing health conditions or risk factors you may have, discuss your fat injection options, take photographs for your medical record, recommend a course of treatment, discuss likely outcomes of a fat injection and any risks or potential complications, and answer your questions.
What should I expect before my fat injection?
Before your fat injection, you may be asked to get lab testing or a medical evaluation, take certain medications or adjust your current medications, stop smoking, and avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, and herbal supplements that may increase bleeding.
We will also give you special instructions about what to do the night before and morning of your procedure and regarding your post-procedure care and follow-up appointments.
What will happen during my fat injection?
First, fat will be taken from the donor site you and your Plastic Surgeon have chosen. Then, this fat will be purified and placed into syringes. Finally, the fat will be injected into the target site.
What should I expect after my fat injection?
Your doctor will give you instructions regarding your post-procedure care. A fat injection usually requires minimal downtime.
What will my results be like?
You will see real results almost immediately. These results should be permanent, although a certain percentage of the fat that has been injected will be absorbed by the body immediately after your procedure.
